Jean-Louis Morelle is a French watercolour artist who regularly exhibits his work in France and abroad. The idea for this book came about because of his many years of experience in teaching. He lives in Montreuil-sous-Bois in France.

It's a complete guide to watercolour techniques with a superb chapter about colours and the use of colours in watercolour. Very interesting !

GREAT WATERCOLOR ARTISTS

PROS - I like his method of applying water to get that soft affect with a loose flowing movement. About the last one third of his book he does have ten examples. He does mention the colors used. I especially liked his Peaceful Street, Redcurrants and Poppies.
CONS - He could have had more step by step examples. Also, it would have been nice if he listed the materials (including the colors and type and size of watercolor paper) at the beginning of each step by step demonstration. It would be nice if he had a DVD video of his demonstration to view on the TV and/or computer.
